The following article is a brief description of Ayida-Wedo and her rank within the Voodoo culture.
ㅤㅤAyida-Wedo is one of the highly-revered serpent-spirits (Lwa or Loa) of Rada Voodoo, who represent the powers of the sky. The rainbow is the universal symbol for this female spirit, and as the wife of Damballah, Ayida-Wedo shares his role as the cosmic protector and giver of miracles.
ㅤㅤThe surname Wedo is believed to signify her strong association (along with Damballah) with the serpent culture of Whydah from the Island of Martinique, or it could possibly be a part of the name of the Nago Rainbow spirit known as Audo-wido.
