Sixth-grader Stone Chaney refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance in the country where the freedom of expression is protected by Constitution. The teacher tried to force Chaney to stand.
“The teacher consultant comes up behind me and snatches me out of my chair violently. I was so confused, I didn’t know what was going on,” the boy said.
“I don’t stand for the pledge because I don’t pledge to a flag. I pledge to God and my family. I don’t feel safe going to that school anymore, because I don’t know what they’re going to do to me next.”
The next day another teacher yelled at Chaney for not standing for the Pledge. Now the teacher who was violent is on administrative leave. There’s nothing to discuss there: Chaney’s right not to worship American flag or government is undeniable. Any efforts to force children to stand up for political reasons is a crime.
