A hard-eyed look at what (politically) comes next. It’s gonna be a long four years, folks, but he’s correct: we fix this not by holing up, but by reaching out. There are bad, ignorant, horrible people on both sides - we can be those people, or we can reach out and make friends with people who are different (and of course that scares you, different always does) and show them we’re not snooty liberals or angry rednecks …we’re just people.
For some of my friends, that’s not an option - it’s a recipe for disaster. That makes it incumbent on the rest of us to stand up, show that yeah, we’re weird & different, but in the ways that matter in any real way, we’re just people too.
