So this happened…. I knew person to be Follower of mine on Facebook however, we had very little interaction (language barrier). I am open about my status and believe that everyone should know their status. This person, from what I recall, had never said anything hateful to me before. Why, suddenly, this after I changed my profile picture? I do not know and I was not able to ask him directly (the profile was not accessible immediately after the comment was left). We have come so far only to find that we have not put stigma, shaming, bullying (even by adults), bigotry, and hate behind us. With social media it (hate) is ever so present. Upsetting and sad it is indeed. Listen… I am an American… But first, let me say this… I am a Black Gay Catholic Man in Recovery LIVING with HIV in America. If you have a problem with any of those things, first go educate yourself on what means to be any of those things, then go do some soul searching ans learn something about yourself and why you have a problem with any of the above “labels”, and after that, get out into world and dive into the human condition, and express some gratitude for your very existence. I don’t hate you for hating me; your existence is the best example of what I do not want to be and for that I am grateful. February 23, 2015
